Healthy Aging: What Older Adults Can Do 

September is Healthy Aging Month, and the population is growing older around the globe. In less than two decades, the United States Census Bureau projects that adults 65 and older will outnumber children under age 18 for the first time in America’s history, and by 2060, 24 percent of Americans will be in their golden years. In coastal Georgia, nearly 24 percent – more than one million – of the state’s residents are already age 65 and older, more than the entire population of some states.

A-Phi-A Philanthropy Day

On Friday, July 1, 2022, the Beta Phi Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. continued its annual support of the Savannah Seniors Center Annual Fan Drive by contributing fifty-seven (57) box fans. This is the fraternity’s third consecutive year supporting the center and this worthy cause. It is our small but yet impactful effort to help our most vulnerable population with some level of protection against the summer heat. We are and shall always remain First of All, Servants of All, We Shall Transcend All.

According to Patti Lyons, president of Senior Citizens, Inc., the organization works with Meals on Wheels to serve some of Chatham County’s oldest residents. Lyons said Subaru is a long-time supporter of Meals on Wheels, and Senior Citizens Inc. just received a grant of a little over $10,000 to support its food service program.

Senior Citizens, Inc. Receives More than $10,000 from Subaru of America to Support Meals on Wheels

Senior Citizens, Inc. (SCI), a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping people age successfully, recently announced it earned more than $10,000 by participating in the 2021-2022 Subaru Share the Love® Event. Over the past 14 years, Subaru and its retailers, including Chatham Parkway Subaru, have helped Meals on Wheels deliver more than 2.5 million meals nationwide to seniors in need.
